I am from poem..

I am from…..
Adapted by Levi Romero
Inspired by “Where I’m from” by George Ella Lyon

I am from cooking utensils from televisions and radios
I am from the big, warm welcoming household that
always smells like candles and my mom’s home cooked meals.
I am from the dandelion
The oak tree who’s long gone limbs
I remember as if they were my own.
I’m from Sunday family dinners and that
dark hair that we have all inherited.
From Maggie and Ron Ramadan.
I’m from procrastination and also hard working
and from a family who doesn’t know how to save a dime.
I’m from my parents constantly reminding me that family
is everything and if you keep making that face it will stay
like that when I would make funny faces as a kid
and eating your vegetable will make you grow big.
I’m from Potlucks and get togethers.
I’m from Springfield, Illinois and Palestine.
I am from homemade cookies and chili
From my brother falling of our trampoline and breaking his arm as
a kid because we were fighting on it. From all the beautiful family
pictures my mother has hung up of each of us in my house. The ones that
hang in our living room for everyone to see, the ones I also cherish
and remember in my heart.
